Festival First: Floating Concert at Teneriffe Festival

  • Music and entertainment will quite literally take to the water at this year’s Bank of Queensland Teneriffe Festival with the addition of the festival’s first-ever river stage at the iconic waterside event.

  • The Mirvac River Stage will play host to a selection of established and up-coming artists throughout the day with headline act, ex-Powderfinger guitarist and songwriter Darren Middleton, expected to draw huge crowds as the event heads into the evening.

Nat Dunn, Brianna Carpenter, Jason Kerrison and Avabaree are among other performers to hit the floating stage on Saturday 05 July, where festival-goers can enjoy a spectacular vantage point from the Sir Manuel Hornibrook Park.

Mirvac development director, Brett Robinson, said the company was excited to be supporting the festival’s first-ever river stage, an exciting and innovative addition to the thriving annual event.

  • “The floating stage is a wonderfully unique addition to one of Brisbane’s most popular calendar events,” he said.

“We are committed to bringing new and exciting experiences to the Teneriffe community and the Mirvac River Stage is sure to delight festival goers of all ages.

"We take great pride in seeing the Festival grow more ambitious and stylish every year, which is a reflection of how the local area is flourishing in just the same way.”

Thousands of Brisbane residents are expected to flock to the Bank of Queensland Teneriffe Festival with live music a key drawcard for many. Visitors will have the chance to listen to a wide variety of sounds from jazz to roots and alternative pop and indie. For those seeking something a little more unusual, this year sees the introduction of two new genres: The Good Ship’s porno country folk cabaret and afro beats from The Flumes.

Festival chairman, Richard Bodley, said the Mirvac River Stage would add an element of surprise and delight to people attending the festival this year.

“The Mirvac River Stage is the first floating stage to feature at the festival,” he said.

“It provides the ideal platform for visitors to watch our internationally recognised headline act, Darren Middleton, along with a number of other highly successful Brisbane-based musical artists.

“We can’t help but joke that we’ve floated the idea around for a while. This year we’ve been able to turn it into a reality and we are really excited to see how it is received.”

All performances on the day are free of charge making Teneriffe Festival one of the best-value music events in Brisbane. For the complete line up please visit http://www.teneriffefestival.org/event-planner/
